European Commision announced the approval of the new Greek Operational Programme “Fisheries and Maritime 2014-2020”. This investment package of 523,4m euro (388.7 EMFF contribution) provides the main pillars of support to be :

  • Promoting innovative and sustainable fisheries : 186.2 million
  • Promoting innovative and sustainable aquaculture : 89.8 million
  • Fostering the Implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy : 92.1 million
  • Increasing employment and territorial cohesion : 54.1 million
  • Fostering marketing and processing : 78.3 million
  • Implementing the Integrated Maritime Policy : 5.9 million
  • Technical assistance : 17 million

On 28-29 May, APC s.a. participated in the annual event of European Commission, European Maritime Day, which took place in Pireaus.

The president Mr. N. Anagnopoulos and the vice president Ms E. Papanastasiou took part in several events of the congress, as well as many scientists / experts and various organizations of all around Europe.

During the congress, they both had the opportunity to meet and talk with specialized organizations on environmental and fisheries issues.

Τhe C.E.O. of APC s.a., N. ANAGNOPOULOS, was a speaker during the workshop AQUA ME, organized by the Ministry of Environment and Water of United Arab Emirates in Dubai – UAE in 16-17 March 2015. The speech was “Mastering Biosecurity: An integral part of Aquaculture – Aquaculture Spatial Planning”.

MASTERING BIOSECURITY_AQUACULTURE SPATIAL PLANNING

The C.E.O. of APC s.a. Mr. Nikos Anagnopoulos had meetings in U.A.E. (Abu Dhabi and Dubai) with governmental bodies, in order to establish a close collaboration on aquaculture and fisheries issues.

APC s.a. is member of a consortium with ANAF (local consulting company) and AKVA (leading Norwegian company on aquaculture equipment and recirculated systems).

APC s.a. signed a contract with SELONDA GROUP, a leading aquaculture company, in order to apply the GLOBAL G.A.P. quality system in certain farms (marine species). This system follows the Integrated Quality System of the Group, which includes HACCP, ISO 22000, ISO 14000, ISO 18001 and Social Responsibility established 3 years before, with the technical assistance of APC s.a

APC s.a. would like to inform you that from 13 December 2014 the rules for labels accompanying all fishery and aquaculture products for EU consumers will change.

Regarding aquaculture products, from now on it is mandatory to appear:

  • Commercial and scientific names (ex. Sea bass Sparus aurata)
  • Production method and area (ex. Farmed fish (aquaculture) Greece)
  • The date of minimum durability (ex. Best before: 25.12.2014)
  • For live bivalve molluscs, the ‘best before’ date can be replaced by the label ‘these animals must be alive when sold’.
  • Allergens. Clear reference to the name of any allergens should be included in the list of possible extra ingredients.
  • Identification mark (ex. Greece XX-YYY-ZZ EC)

Additional requirements for prepacked products:

  • List and quantity of ingredients
  • Net quantity (Net weight)
  • Conditions for storage and use
  • Name or business name and address of the food business operator

Also:

  • There are more rules for processed fishery and aquaculture products
  • There is the possibility to display voluntary information (ex. QR code)
  • From 13 December 2016 will be mandatory to display further more information like the nutrition declaration

The President of APC s.a. Mr. N. ANAGNOPOULOS was invited as expert in the workshop “Sustainable Aquaculture Development in the context of Water Framework Directive and Marine Strategy Framework Directive”, which was held in Brussels (29.09.2014) and organized by E.C. and Cefas.

APC s.a. was invited and Mr. N. Anagnopoulos was a speaker during the workshop "European Sustainable Aquaculture Project - Good Practice" organized by the Greek Ministry of Environment, Energy & Climate Change and Cefas (U.K.) in Athens, 5 - 6 May 2014.

APC s.a. undertook the preparation of the dossier for the establishment of Zones for Organized Development of Aquaculture activities (Z.O.D.A.) in marine areas of Thersprotia Prefecture, according to the Greek Special framework for aquaculture spatial planning. The project was assigned by the company “MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY OF THESRPOTIAN Z.O.D.A. s.a.”

APC s.a. published the 2014 edition of THE AQUACULTURE UNITS MAP OF GREECE, showing the current status and the spatial planning of the sector.
